KOTUSPEEDING was born and raised in Arizona but raced his entire career in New Mexico. He was born April 8, 1998, out of the Drouilly mare, Kotcha Peekin, and by California champion, Present Value. “Speeder” was a nervous wreck at the racetrack. Numerous attempts were made to keep him calm. As he seemed to be claustrophobic, he was taken out of the barn and placed in a “sun pen” so that he had plenty of sunshine and fresh air and could look around. He weaved (swung back & forth) even worse in this environment. He returned to a stall with a special gate that had an opening for his head and neck. He happily weaved only his head which greatly saved wear and tear on his knees. Hoping to mellow him out a bit, wine was added to his evening meal. His favorite wine was Wild Vines Blackberry Merlot. He managed to accumulate $111,665.00 in purse money even though he only won 3 races. He was always right there and ran second 14 times and third 10 times. His favorite rider was Mark Anthony Villa. He enjoys the freedom of the farm and is totally mellow. Curve Ball is his BBF.
